Created and Produced by Anandam Dancetheatre, Canada
Co-Choreographer, Director, Dramaturge Brandy Leary
Co-Choreographer, Performer, Composer Travis Knights
Choreographed by Brandy Leary, Ephemeral Artifacts is a non-linear journey through the evolution of jazz and tap. Featuring tap dancer Travis Knight this piece celebrates the body as a space of transmission and dance as a defiant act of creating knowledge.
Ephemeral Artifacts integrates music, video and storytelling. It unravels the body as a site of consequence and celebrates the act of dancing as a form of resistance.
- EQUIPOISE
Duration : 20 minutes
Concept & Choreography: Prasanna Saikia, Nandita Mondal
Script : Uttaron Chakrabarti
Music Credit : Komet , Anne Muller
Conceptualised and choreographed by Prasanna Saikia, Nandita Mondal “Equipoise” is an artist’s introspection – an exploration that delves into an artist’s existential dilemma – the need to think, create, and act beyond expectation. The concept questions whether there is a predefined norm in the realm of artistic expression — must an artist always tread the path of abstract, weird, and outrageous creations, or can contemporary art find acceptance in simplified, lucid forms? The performers embody this dilemma, a constant oscillation between being forced to break away from the stereotype – to brave one’s own limitations and soar into uncharted territories and unexplored realms – and the want to descend back to the mainstream, to what is familiar. Equipoise probes into the depth of the artistic psyche, contemplating how far one can truly venture beyond the confines of the norm before reaching a breaking point, a point of no return to normalcy. And in the process, constantly struggling to find an Equipoise.
