Your Symptoms, And Flight - A Double Bill by Melancholy Dance Company from South Korea
Date: 25 January 2026 | Sunday | 7:30 pm
Venue: Prestige Centre for Performing Arts, Bengaluru
Duration: 50 minutes
Your Symptoms (30 mins)

In an age of emotional suppression, Your Symptoms delves into the invisible wounds of modern life-loneliness, anxiety, sorrow, and longing. Observing these silent emotional currents, the piece seeks to carve a path toward catharsis, inviting audiences to confront and accept their own internal "symptoms" through movement and shared reflection.
Flight (20 mins)

We experience countless successes and failures to achieve our goals. Sometimes we fall, and other times we exhaust ourselves. But in the meantime, we slowly find ourselves flying towards our goals. Through this leap and jump, “Flight” depicts how we take off for our goals. The flying motion completed by the two illustrates the moment humans overcome their own physical confinement.
Founded in 2016 by choreographer JEONG CHEOL-IN, Melancholy Dance Company sees the world we inhabit as a source of artistic inspiration. The company creates performances that reflect contemporary human experience and resonate with a broad spectrum of audiences.
Melancholy's notable works include Flight (2016), 0g (2018), Übermensch (2019), Your Symptoms (2020), Mobility (2021), and Unprotected (2022). Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has also ventured into dance film, producing works such as Übermensch, Running Seoul, and Mobility_ Break the Border.
With a movement language marked by sophistication and intensity, Melancholy Dance Company explores emotional depth and existential themes. In 2023, the company expanded its scope beyond the theater stage, collaborating across genres with a performance at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul, as part of the MMCA Hyundai Motor Series: Little Ark.
Since then, it has actively pursued international collaborations across Asia and Europe, including South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Hungary, Germany, and Denmark.
