The 12th Attakkalari India Biennial in Collaboration with the BLR Hubba presents Razai – An Immersive
Performance driven by Localised AI. Razai is commissioned by Serendipity Arts Festival 2025 and produced by
Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts in collaboration with Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Mumbai (IIC) and Japan
Foundation.

Premiered at the 10th Serendipity Arts Festival within a historic Goan building, Razai, was conceived as a poetic and
non-linear immersive performance installation curated by Jayachandran Palazhy.

RAZAI – An Immersive Performance driven by Localised AI
16, 17 & 18 January 2026
Two shows each day 3pm & 6pm
Duration: 50 minutes

Razai invites audiences into an intimate exploration of life on the margins of a rapidly shifting metropolis. The installation
centres on a couple who inhabit a single-room bedsit in Bengaluru. Their room becomes a site where memory, fantasy and
lived experience accumulate. It reveals a threshold where the everyday meets the imaginative, and where the textures of the
city seep into the textures of the body. Streets appear to cling to skin, horns emerge with the quickness of insect limbs, milk
rises with quiet fury, and familiar footwear retains the warmth of movement.
A localised AI system, first of its kind in the country, responds directly to visitor interaction by generating evolving visual
and sonic environments. The couple’s personal objects act as portals that release layered memory-scapes and urban
dreamscapes. Razai guides visitors through shifting terrains that question the boundaries between home and city, and
between the real and the remembered.
Razai is commissioned by Serendipity Arts Festival 2025 and produced by Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts in
collaboration with Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Mumbai (IIC) and Japan Foundation.
