The Movement Masterclass facilitated by the Melancholy Dance Company from South Korea, is structured across two interconnected sessions that centre embodiment, connection and creative enquiry. The first class explores relational movement through physical dialogue, moving from body to body contact part- based and point-based connections. These practices cultivate trust, empathy, heightened awareness as well as expanding spatial axes. The second class engages with rhythm and musicality as catalysts for movement. This class extends an invitation to participants to interpret beats through locomotion and improvisation. Through guided exercises and original movement phrases dancers are invited to develop personalised combinations, integrate technique and expand their individual movement vocabularies.

Founded in 2016 by choreographer Jeong Cheol-In, Melancholy Dance Company views the world we live in as a source of artistic inspiration, creating performances that reflect contemporary human experiences and resonate with a wide range of audiences. Major works include Flight (2016), 0g (2018), Übermensch (2019), Your Symptoms (2020) and Mobility (2021).
